Sales Associate Joshua Mason tells us what it is like to work for La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries of Arizona.
On June 29th, 2014, La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries of Arizona was selected as one of the 2014 CareerBuilder’s Top Companies to Work for in Arizona at a celebratory breakfast reception. Being the only statewide program of its kind, it was designed to identify companies that have achieved top rankings in employer practices as well as employee engagement and satisfaction scores. Top Companies believes in recognizing successful companies who are investing in their employees and creating positive workforce environments that improve profitability. Companies were evaluated and selected based on a combination of overall satisfaction scores from an Employee Engagement Survey and evaluation from an Employer Questionnaire covering topics related to HR programs, benefits and workplace culture.
In an congratulatory interview with Kathy Till, Vice President of Human Resource and Development of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries of Arizona, she tells us why they were selected as a Top Company to Work for in Arizona.
“On April 28, 1983, the first La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries® of Arizona opened for business. It was a small store, with just a few salespeople”, said Kathy. Fast forward three decades, we are now 10 La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries® throughout the state that employ over 220 employees. Although the company has grown tremendously over the years, Till said some things have not changed at all, including the way our company feels like a small, family-run business.
“It’s a very interesting thing about our organization, the way we have the best of both worlds. We are a dealer for La-Z-Boy and have that billion dollar brand and recognition, but we also have the feel of a family.”
This friendly and familial atmosphere extends to each and every customer who comes into a La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries®, Till said. The company’s values are “CKS,” which stands for “Caring-Knowledge-Service.”
“Our values are directly related to both internal and external customer service,” Till noted, adding that shoppers are often surprised to learn La-Z-Boy sells much more than the comfortable and high-quality recliners that have made them famous. We also sell Bedroom, Dining room and home décor.
“We developed an In-Home Design Program, where we have an Accredited Interior Designer on-staff in our stores who will go to our customers’ homes and help them create the room of their dreams,” Till said. “By caring about our customers so much, we are able to create these types of programs.”
Till said, “We have been working with focused diligence for four years on becoming The Greatest Retail Show on Earth. We believe in striving for Perfection and as one unified team dedicated to improving the work and lives of each other, our customers, and our community!”
