Designing for small spaces can be somewhat of a challenge but it doesn’t need to be! With a few helpful tips, the right pieces can make your room feel spacious and functional.
A lot of people make the mistake of buying small scale furniture but then buy too much of it, making the room feel overcrowded. The best thing to do, is buy normal scale furniture but only the pieces that are a must. Select pieces that are multi-functional. Storage ottomans become very versatile and they can act as a cocktail table, additional seating and a great place to hide away some items that aren’t used on an everyday basis.
Reflective surfaces such as mirrors, glass, and metallics also help spaces feel larger. These items help to spread light throughout the space as well as play tricks with the eyes to visually expand the area they are in.
Less is more in small spaces. It’s still important to make your space your own but keep the accessorizing to a minimum. Too much can make your space feel cluttered.
Just remember keep your room a reflection of you. If in doubt, toss it out!
