Dottie had a dilemma. She loved her traditional, intricately-carved dining set and her bold, contemporary mirror, but she didn’t like how they worked [or didn’t] together. In an attempt to downplay the dominant table and mirror, she made the costly mistake of choosing a subdued rug and accessories. Her room lacked the cohesive flow she wanted.

Dining Room Before Picture - Design meets Comfort

Here’s the magic fix:

Fix 1: We changed the area rug to a transitional style, bridging the traditional table and contemporary mirror. The rug became the foundation layer for the rest of the room.

Fix 2: We added sideboard accessories to give color, metallic shine, and vertical lift between the sideboard and mirror.

Fix 3: We exchanged the low tabletop accessories for a single candleholder with simple elegance and height to balance the space between the tabletop and chandelier.

Many times, one single elemement like an area rug, can bridge two styles together as one. In this case, it gives a clear direction to begin layering the other accesssories in the room.
